A 1900 home updated with custom details and a stronger connection to the outdoors

This Squirrel Hill renovation focused on updating the kitchen of a 1900 home with custom cabinetry, a more detailed material palette, improved openings to the rear exterior, and carefully coordinated mechanical work. As the design developed, the scope grew through a “scope driving budget” process. The homeowners explored what it would take to achieve the kitchen they wanted, which led to added custom details, larger openings, and a more involved layout and systems plan.
